About Album

Hamburg-based shoegaze and post-punk trio Seasurfer return with their new EP, ‘The Noise Is Ours’ , a four-track release that sees the band further develop their signature “dream-punk” aesthetic through expansive distortion, immersive guitar textures and hauntingly intimate vocals. Following June’s post-punk EP ‘Angels’ , the new release continues a prolific chapter for the band while marking their return to the live stage for the first time since the pandemic. Known for their intensely atmospheric approach to shoegaze, Seasurfer have established themselves as long-standing fixtures within the European and American alternative music underground. Their sound is built around a striking collision of scale and vulnerability: huge, noise-driven walls of guitar and rhythm meet fragile, breathy vocals, creating music that constantly moves between beauty and abrasion. ‘The Noise Is Ours’ explores themes of transience, loss, rediscovery and, ultimately, love. Rather than offering fixed narratives, the EP embraces deliberately cryptic songwriting, leaving space for listeners to project their own experiences onto the music. Its emotional core is defined by contrast, soaring highs followed by inevitable crashes, moments of intimacy set against overwhelming sonic force, and the continual movement between light and darkness. At the centre of that dynamic is vocalist, bassist and synth player Kiora, whose arrival reinforces the band’s ability to balance density with delicacy. Raised in a musical family, Kiora was immersed in sound from an early age before moving through a series of band projects, including progressive math rock, and developing a powerful, dynamic vocal approach. Over time, however, she discovered the emotional weight of restraint, developing a breathy, understated style that could communicate as intensely as a full-throttle performance. That vocal approach now provides a compelling counterpoint to Seasurfer’s trademark wall of sound. Working alongside band mastermind Dirk Knight and singer Apolonia, Kiora contributes to a three-piece lineup that embraces the friction between the intimate and the immense, allowing each element to heighten the impact of the other.

Lead single ‘Flurry Glory’ offers an immediate introduction to that aesthetic. Dreamlike and immersive, the track combines Kiora’s warm, delicate vocals with distorted and echoed guitars and rolling, vibrant drums. The result is a track defined by atmosphere and momentum, with each layer contributing to an expansive sonic environment that feels simultaneously weightless and physically imposing. The track also reflects SEASURFER’s broad musical vocabulary, drawing from the darker edges of dream-pop, darkwave and shoegaze while incorporating the scale and heaviness of alternative rock. Echoes of Slowdive and M83 can be felt in the band’s atmospheric sensibility, while the dense, drone-heavy guitar work introduces a heavier edge that pushes their sound beyond conventional dream-pop territory. Now operating once again as a three-piece, Seasurfer are entering a new phase with ‘The Noise Is Ours’ , one that combines decades of experience with a renewed sense of creative momentum. The EP arrives as a modern expression of the band’s enduring fascination with the meeting point between noise and melody, fragility and force, and emotional intimacy and overwhelming volume. ‘Flurry Glory’ and ‘The Noise Is Ours’ by Seasurfer is set for release on August 14th, 2026
