RAY NOIR UNLEASHES NEW EP, GOTHSTAR – CVNTY QUEER RAVE-METAL FOR THE OUTSIDERS

Six tracks. Crushing riffs. Questionable behaviour. Welcome to Gothstar.

London-based alternative artist Ray Noir releases his new EP Gothstar on 17 September 2026 – his boldest and most unapologetic project yet, bringing together metalcore, rave, electronic club music and queer theatrics.

Created alongside producers and co-writers Jon Cass and Tom Saint, the project sees Ray fully define his self-described „cvnty queer rave-metal“ sound: pounding electronics, crushing guitars and massive hooks made for somewhere between Berghain and the mosh pit.

Across Gothstar, Ray explores identity, confidence, sexuality and the power of embracing exactly what makes you different. It’s about being the outsider, finding your people and eventually realising that being „too much“ might actually be the whole point.

At the centre of the EP is the idea of the Gothstar – not just a character, but an attitude. It’s the version of yourself that stops asking for permission, puts on the outfit anyway and walks into the room like everybody else is lucky you showed up.

„Growing up in the Norwegian metal scene, I didn’t really see anyone like me. With Gothstar, I wanted to create the world I wish I’d had back then. It’s gay, it’s heavy, it’s sweaty, it’s camp and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Basically, if Berghain had a mosh pit, I’d like to think this would be playing.“ – Ray Noir

The six-track EP features the gloriously shameless „Label Whxre,“ dark and pounding „Black,“ the boy-obsessed „Boys,“ and queer rave-metal anthem „Gothstar“ featuring NYC alternative artist Danny Blu. New track „Crush“ takes a more personal turn, alongside an alternative solo version of Gothstar.

Heavy music has always belonged to outsiders. Ray Noir is just making the pit a little gayer.
