Fuedal (Troy Woodhall) and Brood Faye (Zach Webber) met in LA’s dark electronic music scene and became fast friends and eventually, roommates and collaborators. Like sickly ironic spawn of The Prodigy and Beastie Boys, Mafioso was born from a Brood Faye techno demo and an at-home viewing of M. Night Shamylan’s 2024 disaster Trap, starring Josh Hartnett as a doting father and serial killer. The final scene depicts a tricycle in the yard of a broken family, which instantly became the inspiration behind the gibberish language used in the vocals of the song. This manifestation of the artists’ stream of consciousness backed by startlingly heavy synthesizer riffs compounds into delirium for delirium’s sake.
