LAKESIDE X ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE
“FACTORY FLOWERS”
Prague alt-electronic act returns with their heaviest, most industrial sound yet — out
20 March 2026
Prague-based alternative / synth-pop outfit Lakeside X are set to release their brand new
single “Factory Flowers” on 20 March 2026 — their first new music in three years and the
first taste of their forthcoming studio album. The release marks a bold new chapter for a
band whose reputation as a formidable live and recording act has only grown in the years
since they came back to the scene with their last record.
Since the release of their well received album Love Disappears (2022), Lakeside X have
been relentlessly on the road, completing an intensive European touring cycle of dozens of
shows across Germany, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Ireland and the United
Kingdom. Along the way, they shared stages with respected acts including Empathy Test,
De/Vision and Christian Eigner, cementing their status on the international electronic and
alternative club circuit.
Among the defining moments of this touring period was their appearance as opening act for
Depeche Mode at their Prague show in 2023, where Lakeside X performed in front of more
than 40,000 people — one of the most significant milestones in the band’s two-decade
career.
“Factory Flowers” signals a tangible evolution in Lakeside X’s sound. Darker and more
muscular than anything in their back catalogue, the track pulses with a throbbing, industrial-
tinged rhythm, prominent guitar textures and a raw electronic energy that feels both urgent
and unsettling. The influence of Jodorowsky’s graphic novels looms large — dystopian,
cinematic, and impossible to look away from.
The single was produced again by Daniel Myer — the acclaimed German producer behind
Haujobb, Architect, DSTR and Covenant — who also helmed Love Disappears. The master
was entrusted to another long-time collaborator of the band and well-known figure on the
Czech electronic scene, Moimir Papalescu.
Accompanying the single is a music video created in collaboration with English Prague
based artist Adrian T. Bell — a respected musician and songwriter in his own right — whose
striking paintings and visual art form the new visual backbone of the band, amplifying the
song’s themes of technological alienation and an encroaching loss of the human.
On the Theme of “Factory Flowers” — Janne Marvannen, vocalist and
songwriter:
“Our generation has experienced so many technological revolutions. We were the children
who had the first personal computers. We played the first computer games and held the first
mobile phones in our hands. The first smartphones. We experienced the advent of the
internet. Dial-up connections, then broadband. We experienced a time when the internettook over as the main medium and source of information. We experienced the first social
networks. And now we are experiencing the advent of AI. All in one lifetime, in the span of 40
years.
Meanwhile, entire generations of people are putting their lives in the hands of technology.
Everything is online today, everything is virtual today. Only we are real. We have put our
lives, emotions, feelings, and experiences in the hands of technology. Our data floats
through metaspace, we live in virtual bubbles, we cultivate online friendships, and we
consult with AI chatbots. Our lives are in the hands of invisible technological networks.
Where algorithms and technology prevail, humanity dies. We thought that connectivity and
information would lead people to freedom, but instead it’s used to manipulate and control.
But it is us who are separating ourselves from reality. We multiply violence in our minds. We
are held in confusion and fear. In a world where the blind lead the blind, we feed the fire of
factory flowers.”
