About Album

With “Golem Akt II – Krieg und Zerissenheit,” Unterschicht continue their uncompromising and darkly intense body of work. Following the first chapter of the Golem concept, they now lead their listeners even deeper into a scenario shaped by destruction, inner turmoil, and social alienation.

The album stands as a powerful manifesto of raw energy, emotional fragmentation, and clear political awareness. Unterschicht fuse their characteristic blend of brutal electronic beats, martial vocals, and atmospheric soundscapes into a sonic storm that both disturbs and captivates.

The creative force behind the project is Sven Hegewald, who serves as the originator of the idea, concept architect, primary composer, and founding member of Unterschicht. His vision shapes the cohesive “Golem” universe, merging musical severity with thematic depth.

He is joined by Sandra Güttel, whose work on keys, drums, and female vocals plays an essential role in defining the band’s distinctive sound, adding emotional nuance and dynamic contrast to the compositions. Completing the live formation is Denise Mehlig, who performs live keys, expanding the atmospheric density on stage and intensifying the impact of the songs in a live setting.

Lyrically, “Golem Akt II – Krieg und Zerissenheit” explores the depths of human existence — the conflict between technology and humanity, obedience and rebellion. It is an acoustic reflection of our time, marked by fear, anger, and the search for meaning in a disintegrating world.

Tracks such as “Krieg Des Golems”, „Puppet“ and “Mein Fleisch Ist Stein” showcase the band at their peak: uncompromising, honest, and delivering a force that strikes directly beneath the skin. Each song forms a chapter in a dark oratorio that reinterprets the Golem as a symbol of human hubris and emotional alienation.

With “Golem Act II – Krieg und Zerissenheit,” Unterschicht once again prove that they are among the unmistakable voices of the German-language industrial and dark electro scene — loud, confrontational, and unmistakably clear.

Unterschicht do not deliver comfortable listening — they deliver a statement.
