Dismantled is the product of an experiment that began in late 2000 by Gary Zon, who was attempting to create something similar to Front Line Assembly’s sound. After overwhelming positive feedback from online listeners, Gary began further sonic construction by drawing influences from television, movies, and music as well as adding vocals into the mix. The resulting sound was a unique blend of very melodic, yet complex mix of layered electro-industrial merged with trance elements. This dark, brooding, futuristic ensemble yielded more and more positive feedback, while comparing it to Front Line Assembly, Haujobb, Wumpscut and Velvet Acid Christ.
After the self-titled album was released in 2002 on Metropolis Records and Dependent Records in Europe the project continued with the album „Post-Nuclear“ in 2004, introducing clearer vocals into a grittier and more organic landscape featuring the single „Exit“ and a cover of „Morningstar“ by AFI. The sarcastic and danceable album „Standard Issue“ was released in 2006 with the „Breed To Death“ EP single preceding it featuring remixes by Psyclon Nine, Haujobb, and Wumpscut as well as a cover of Paula Abdul’s „Straight Up.“ After a long hiatus, the project embarked on tours with bands like VNV Nation, Apoptygma Bezerk and Combichrist before finally releasing „The War Inside Me“ in 2011, the project’s most aggressive and energetic output yet. A tour with Front Line Assembly followed shortly after as the first music video for the song „Insecthead“ was released.
After some more EP releases of „Whole Wide World“ in 2012 and „The Hero“ in 2016, the project took an extended hiatus only resurfacing briefly for the „No Escape“ single due to the COVID pandemic in 2020. Finally Dismantled’s sixth studio album „Endless“ was completed in the summer of 2026. Recorded mostly in Oregon and finished in Southern California, it is the project’s most cohesive work meshing all previous styles into a synthetic blend unlike any other. Fans will recognize references to previous Dismantled songs over the years as well as rediscover the sound that gave the project its uniqueness.
