Marina was based off a loose experience I had from highschool. There was a girl a couple years above me who died one night at a highschool party, which we used to call “Pharm Parties”. Basically, the party itself would be based around taking pharmaceuticals. This girls’ parents had left for the weekend and she had one of these gatherings at her place, Unfortunatley she was overdosing later that night and none of the students wanted to help her out because they were scared that their mummies and daddies who were doctors and lawyers would get mad at them, so she died. It was all over the news in Australia. Although my song isn’t exactly based upon that, it’s almost the opposite. Someone taking their own life and there not being anything you could do about it, even though you tried to make it all right for them. Much like an addict, you can’t be responsible for somebody else’s using, much like you can’t be fully responsible for someone else’s mental state.

Opening very calm the song builds up to a powerful anthem – “It’s all up to you!”
